By Royal Apointment!!

We thought we had “arrived” when we were asked to cater for the visit to Manchester of the Duchess of Gloucester, but as you can see from the photo above we reached the top of the Royal family tree!!!

Her Royal Highness Elizabeth II recently visited one of our clients to take part in a fun night for staff. She was treated to a tasty selection of hand created nibbly treats produced by the chefs of By Request, she was waited on hand and foot. Her every whim was attended to. At the end of the evening we bowed respectfully and withdrew………………it turned out she was called Edna and she was a “look a like”!! Just shows you cant trust anyone!!!

They were all very impressed and it looks like we are going to get support from both of them. not least they were impressed by The Mad Hatters party, The spread you put on was fantastic and I am very grateful to you for doing such a good job.

Outside Caterers…………………Literally!!!

After doing what we do for over 23 years we still come across situations we hadn’t foreseen (usually situations nothing to do with us and completely beyond our control.

The wedding by a lake in Northwich was such an occasion – in the height of summer!! We arrived and set out our area for serving a summer bbq as the heavens opened. Because the weather hadn’t been great for the preceding few days we took a gazebo to cover the area if the weather didn’t improve. Seeing a man with a huge beard rounding up animals two by two and cramming them on his boat should have gave us a hint. It poured down!! And half an hour before the guests arrived the lake (which we now know is something called a “flash” began to rise…….and rise. The lake that began the day 30 yards from the marquee ending lapping around the tepee. We ended up silver serving the seated party goers instead of having them wade around the bbq. The bride did look VERY fetching in her matching gold wellies.

“Nobody can be that cool and calm!!”

That was the expression from the lips of a recent client as she changed the arrangements for the third time only hours before her party, and I said to her not to worry, relax and enjoy your party, we will sort it.

It wasn’t ideal but the party was a special occasion – a 50^th Wedding anniversary, we were there to help and facilitate not make the situation worse. So a lovely lunch was had by all. A selection of warmed canapés, a choice of hot starters, a choice of two rather nice fish dishes followed by a plated trio of decadent desserts, finished off with piping hot coffee. All from her own domestic kitchen for nearly 60 people, and just to keep it a challenge using a temperamental Aga!!!

“The day was marvellous darling. I hadn’t slept for days worrying and then when I saw the weather…… and the service over ran…….and people turned up late – I felt sick!!! But you guys took it all in your stride and just looked after us all and made it a lovely day…………………..to the point where we are wondering what we can have another party for!!!!!!” Gloria – Cheadle Hulme.
